Competence

“Begin with the end in mind.”

Stephen Covey

We established our first 'compliance' team back in 2000. Today's team comprises construction design risk management specialists supported by technical administrative resource; all are highly experienced in a variety of construction-related environments.

At Kilcollum, we believe that competence is the cornerstone of all successful business.

All our people are highly competent and specialists in their field. Our consultants are all members of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health at Chartered Safety Health Practitioner level (CMIOSH) and are listed on the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR).

Principal Designer Capability

“I have no idols, I admire work, dedication and competence.”

Ayrton Senna

Back in April 2015, we saw the latest update to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, making the role of CDM coordinator obsolete and creating a new duty-holder, the principal designer (PD).

For Kilcollum, little changed in terms of how we actually administer the role. We have always concentrated on eliminating risk at the earliest possible stage by working closely with the design team throughout the pre-construction/design phase.

More recently, the Building Safety Act 2022 arose from the Grenfell Tower fire, highlighting significant failures in building safety regulations. The Act is a direct response to the tragedy and aims to reform the way buildings are designed, constructed, and managed, particularly higher-risk buildings. It also addresses recommendations from Dame Judith Hackitt's "Building a Safer Future" report
Kilcollum have the organisational capability, knowledge and experience to carry out the role of principal designer CDM & BR to the highest possible level.
